Brazil’s vast coastline holds a rich variety of cultural and scenic experiences. The most famous spots along the Brazilian coastline are the long beaches of Ipanema and Copacabana, which lie between the city of Rio de Janeiro’s southern edge and the sea. Whilst visiting Rio, hike up to the iconic statue of Christ the Redeemer - the view from the top is well worth braving the crowds for.

South of Rio, Ilha Grande has lovely beaches and forest trails. One of the best beaches is Praia Lopes Mendes, this flawless curve of pale yellow sand is backed by palm trees and lapped by water that gradually shifts between shades of azure blue and turquoise.

Travellers hunting for the ultimate paradise should travel to Brazil’s Costa Verde (Green Coast) region.  At the heart of the Green Coast is the colonial port city of Angra dos Reis - the Bay of Kings. The sheltered cruising grounds of this vast bay feature 365 lush islands, one for every day of the year with more than 2,000 spectacular beaches.  Some islands are privately-owned playgrounds, but many are pure testaments to nature. Superb snorkeling, diving, hiking, water sports, fishing and cruising can be enjoyed throughout the region.
