TEMPEST
A Classic Ocean-Racing Maxi.
Built in 1974, TEMPEST is one of the notable Sparkman & Stephens maxi-racer ketches of her era. A near sistership to Jim Kilroy’s legendary KIALOA III, she shares the same hull form and racing pedigree that defined 1970s offshore competition. Completely rebuilt at Holland Jachtbouw in 2000, TEMPEST emerged as essentially a new yacht with continuous upgrades ever since.

TEMPEST was launched first in 1974 as a maxi racer by Palmer Johnson, a near sistership to Jim Kilroy's famous KIALOA III. In 1999 she was sailed to the Netherlands, where she was completely gutted and rebuilt. She was relaunched as practically a new vessel in 2000, with new rig, engineering, electronics and more. She boasts a beautiful Sparkman & Stephens designed hull, with a classic Hoek designed teak interior, offering all the amenities of a modern yacht alongside the racing pedigree of a true classic.
