In recent years, destinations along Croatia’s coastline such as Zadar, Split and Dubrovnik have enjoyed an increase in popularity and the infrastructures here for tourism and yachting are positively flourishing.
Ancient harbours nestled between lush green interiors and the azure Adriatic Sea. Reminiscent of the ancient beauty of the Eastern Mediterranean and equally influenced by the Western Mediterranean, the region of Croatia and Montenegro is a compelling world, particularly when explored by yacht.
Croatia's island-speckled coastline is indisputably its main attraction and the first thing that strikes you is the remarkable clarity of the water here. Set against a dazzling white pebble beach, the water sparkles in intense shades of emerald and turquoise.
Referred to as the ‘Pearl of the Adriatic’, the city of Dubrovnik is nestled behind huge imposing ramparts, captured between a sapphire sea and a lush backdrop of green hillsides. A walk around the city walls gives a great insight to the city’s heritage.
The national park at the island of Mljet is the perfect introduction to Croatia’s islands. There is a great anchorage at Polace on the island’s north coast and here you can step ashore to explore the island’s interior, which features unusual saltwater lakes. Mljet is also well known for its white and red wine production, olives and goat's cheese. If you are visiting the area on a luxury yacht charter, you can be sure that the chef will be busy preparing a delicious array of local flavours for you to try whilst you’re out exploring.
Hvar is another desirable destination to visit whilst in the Adriatic. Built around a Baroque-style harbour, Hvar is the most sophisticated of Croatia’s islands and is fast becoming the Saint-Tropez of the Eastern Mediterranean, with plenty of glitz and glamour to keep you entertained.
Trogir is often the last port of call during a charter in Croatia and is a fitting end to an itinerary in the Adriatic. Moor alongside the Riva and wander along the palm-lined promenade that runs between the colourful buildings and the waterside before having a sundowner at one of the many cafés and restaurants at the waterfront.
