TROGIR TO DUBROVNIK - 7 DAYS

TROGIR TO DUBROVNIK - 7 DAYS

Nestled in the Adriatic sea, this seven day itinerary takes in some of Croatia’s most notable sights

With a mixed cultural and religious heritage, the many islands along the Dalmatian coast host historial secrets and some incredible architecture.

Serenely beautiful, this region of Croatia offers a distinctly calm and relaxed charter itinerary.

TROGIR TO BRAC
Day 1

Embark in Trogir, meet the crew and enjoy a welcome lunch onboard.

UNESCO-listed, Trogir is a town of extraordinary architectural beauty that sits on a small island just off the Croatian mainland and is a jewel of the Dalmatian coast.

Afternoon cruise towards Brac island, the largest island in Dalmatia with the highest peak in the Adriatic sea.  Brac is famous for its radiant white stone, which was used in the construction of the White House in Washington and the Diocletian’s Palace in Split.

Bol, the oldest town on the coast of Brac, is situated in the southern part of the island.  It is best known for its Zlatni Rat beach, often referred to as the Golden Cape or Golden Horn, which is

constantly rated as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.  Like a tongue, it stretches almost half a kilometre perpendicularly out into the crystal clear blue sea and is a favourite spot for surfers and kite surfers.

BRAC TO HVAR
Day 2

Hvar is one of the best known islands in the Dalmatian group.  Art treasures, secluded beaches, peaceful villages and fields of lavender make this island one of the treasures of the Adriatic.

Perched on a hill above the old town, is a 16th century fortress that enjoys spectacular views of the town, harbour, and islands beyond. It hosts a prominent collection of amphorae and other objects from the ancient times and the Middle Ages.

Located opposite the town of Hvar, the chain of the Pakleni islands (about twenty islets) is approximately 10km long and formed of limestone. The name of this tiny archipelago comes from the word "paklina", which is the pine resin once used to coat ships. This archipelago is

the most beautiful part of the Hvar riviera and has numerous small, secluded bays with crystal clear sea perfect for swimming, diving and watersports.

Hvar also hosts a range of good restaurants, beach bars, spas and clubs.

HVAR TO VIS
Day 3

On day three, cruise to the island of Vis - a former military base and one of Croatia’s best diving spots.

Anchor off the tiny islet of Bisevo, southwest of Vis, to explore the amazing Blue Cave famous for its silvery-blue colour created by the refraction of sunlight entering through a crack in the stone. This cave easily rivals the Blue Grotto in Capri and is considerably larger with a natural monumental entrance.

On the northeastern coast, the town of Vis is the oldest settlement on the island.  In addition to interesting ruins from the Greek and Roman period, there are villas and churches dating from the 16th and 17th centuries. The highlight is undoubtedly the Archaeological Museum which contains several exquisite Greek sculptures.

Much of the island is devoted to vineyards that produce the famous Vugava white wine and Plavac red wine.

We recommend dinner at Villa Kaliopa - this restaurant is set in the exotic gardens of the 16th century Garibaldi mansion.

Korcula is one of the greenest islands in the Adriatic sea, and it is covered in dense forests of Aleppo pine, cypress and oak trees. The island is rich in art and culture, as well as beautiful nature with numerous secluded beaches, bays and breathtaking views.

The historic town of Korcula is perched on a peninsula, and the streets are arranged in a herringbone pattern allowing free circulation of air but protecting it against strong winds.

The town's historic sites include the central Gothic and Renaissance Cathedral of St Mark, the Town Hall and the massive city fortifications.

There is also a 15th-century Franciscan monastery with a beautiful cloister, situated on the islet of Badija, near Korcula town.

Day 5

In the morning of day five, cruise to the island of Lastovo, stopping first at Mladina island for a swim and then lunch on the beautiful and sandy Saplun beach.

Lastovo and its surrounding archipelago are preserved as a Croatian Nature Park. The island is a fantastic place for nature lovers with many cycling and walking trails.

The main village of Lastovo, also called Lastovo, was built on a steep slope overlooking fertile fields growing vegetables, grapes and olives.

You can wander amongst the old stone houses with the traditional red roofs and visit the many churches dotted around the small village.

LASTOVO TO MLJET
Day 6

Cruise towards Mljet island and anchor off Saplunara, a lovely large bay well known for its sandy beaches surrounded by dense pine woods.

Nearby, on the way to the gorgeous interconnecting lakes of Veliko Jezero and Malo Jezero, explore Ulysses’s cave where, as legend goes, Ulysses fell in love with the beautiful goddess Calypso.

Mljet National Park has been proclaimed as an area of special interest as the salt lakes are a unique geological and oceanographic phenomenon of worldwide importance. They originated

approximately 10,000 years ago and, until the early Christian era, they were fresh water lakes. Some endemic Dalmatian plants can only be found on this rocky coast.

Mljet is also very rich in cultural heritage, the most prominent example being the complex of the 12th century Benedictine monastery, which is located on a small island in the middle of the largest lake.

MLJET TO ELAPHITI
Day 7

This morning, cruise to the peaceful island of Sipan, the largest island in the Elaphiti archipelago.

There are several churches on the island, including the 11th century church of St Peter and the Church of the Holy Spirit which was built in 1569.

Some of the Dubrovnik aristocracy built their summer houses on Sipan, the remains of which can still be seen today.

Cruise further south towards Lokrum, where you’ll find a stunning nature reserve lying 600m

from Dubrovnik’s historic harbour out in the Adriatic sea.  The name Lokrum comes from the Latin ‘acrumen’ meaning ‘sour fruit’, a reference to the oranges and lemons that still grow on the island today.  The island hosts the ruins of a former Benedictine monastery that’s nestled among olive groves, citrus trees, and forests of pine, laurel, oak and cypress.

The island is also known for its botanical garden in which grow numerous species of plants including a large collection of eucalyptuses, palm trees and cacti.
