Costa Rica is one of the world’s most biodiverse countries. From its crystal blue ocean full of marine life - where you could be moments away from humpback whales, sea turtles & charismatic bottlenose dolphins - to its tropical rainforests, home to sloths, monkeys and vibrant scarlet macaws. Costa Rica is driest from November to April, with temperatures remaining at around 28-degrees. Having half a year to explore Costa Rica at its best, there really isn’t an excuse not to visit such a wonderful part of the world.

Take full advantage of these pristine warm waters and striking coastline by scuba diving and snorkelling along the colourful coral reefs, and trekking through the untouched forests that roll into the sea. The Gandoca Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge & Cahuita National Park are both considered to be some of the best snorkelling areas on this side of the island. Whilst on the Pacific-facing side, you can make the most of your yacht’s onboard water toys partaking in activities such as kite boarding and surfing.

A visit to the Arenal Volcano in the northern part of the country, shouldn’t go a miss. For a breathtaking view, you can travel by helicopter to see this wonder of nature. You are still never far from water as at the base of the volcano lies Costa Rica’s largest lake, Lake Arenal. Here you can enjoy stand-up paddleboarding and kayaking with the picturesque backdrop of the volcano. For a more exhilarating on-water thrill, you could travel to the Balsa River where you are able to experience white-water rafting, and the rapids on this river are perfect for all skill levels. In the evening, relax and unwind in the hot springs and view the volcano under moonlight.

The tiny yet balmy coastal town of Manuel Antonio is located just off the central Pacific coast, and it is home to the Manuel Antonio National Park. The park is a tropical paradise, it really is the perfect place to explore wondrous flora & fauna as well as taking a stroll along the sandy beaches. This beautiful blend of native heritage is also home to one of the most proactive conservation policies in the world. Ticos, the inhabitants of Costa Rica, take great care of their national natural treasures.

Attending the vibrant festivals that take place throughout the year, is a great way to immerse yourself into the local culture. Fiesta Zapote is the largest of these and takes place at the end of December, it’s a fantastic way to end the year!
