About MILENA

Milena is a 1928 Bermudian ketch, designed by Fred Shepherd and built by the White Brothers in the UK. Milena boasts elegant lines, a British build pedigree, and a fast, seakindly hull that will deliver comfortable cruising.

This 27m sailing yacht was built under Lloyd’s supervision and awarded the highest classification available to a wooden yacht at the time. And Milena’s history is well documented – commissioned by Royal London Yacht Club member Rhodes H. Cobb, and originally named Pamela, she was sold in 1930 to a friend of Cobb’s son, the Lt. Commander Glen Kidston, R.N. Rtd. Kidston had been a fearless naval officer during the First World War and raced sports cars for Bentley during the late 1920s. He was also a record-breaking aviator.

Milena spent the following years at Dun Laoghaire in Ireland under the ownership of a Dublin-based building contractor named John Good, and an entry in the 1946 supplement to the 1939 edition of Lloyd’s Register of Yachts details her as then owned by Lord Glentanar. By the mid 1950s the yacht had been relocated for a life in the sun, enjoying a series of Italian owners and sailing in the Western Mediterranean. In 1969 records show that ownership transferred to an Antibes-based professional yachtsman named Barry Piggin, who berthed Milena in San Remo. Her present owner purchased her in 1974 and has spent the last 50 years cruising with family and friends, competing in occasional classic regattas, and Milena has been available for charter.

This is a yacht that enchants all who step aboard, and the opportunity to purchase her in a ready-to-cruise condition.

A 2007 refit has restored the yacht to her original glory, and she has been cared for with great love and devotion by her current owner.

A traditional interior resides within, with wood panelling and white-painted ceilings. She is every bit a ‘yachtsman’s yacht’ and ready to continue her graceful days at sea.

Milena could be run by a competent couple with minimal crew, and has three cabins:

A master cabin with one double bed and ensuite bathroom. A guest cabin on the starboard side with a bathroom on the port side of the corridor. A twin guest cabin forward of the saloon with upper and lower berths and ensuite bathroom.
