Naples, Porto Cervo & St Tropez

Porto Cervo, the most important and famous village on the Costa Smeralda, is a modern, purpose-built resort which commenced development in1962. The village is a stylish collection of traditional-style Mediterranean low-rise buildings in peach, cream and white stucco with terracotta-tiled roofs. There's an attractive pedestrianised centre, known as the Piazzetta, featuring stores of the most exclusive international brands. Across the harbour, the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda is an interesting destination for keen sailors.

In a picturesque location on a limestone cliff, surrounded by its ancient walls, Bonifacio is a well- preserved fortified town that dates back to the 9th century. The town is a charming maze of medieval lanes flanked by old houses. The Sainte-Marie-Majeure church stands at the heart of this historic town. Built between the 12th and 13th centuries, the church has a simple exterior distinguished by its loggia, an arcaded covered porch with classical lines. The interior leaves visitors gasping in awe, with its serene Romanesque architecture of columns and arches. One of the highlights of this sanctuary is its 15th century marble tabernacle. Another important tourist attraction is the Saint-Dominique church dating back to the 12th-13th centuries. This Gothic church has an impressive 15th-century tower and contains interesting figures carved in wood, which are carried through the town during religious processions. Spend a day exploring Monaco on foot, peruse the shops at Le Metropole Shopping centre or Monte-Carlo pavilions, or visit the gorgeous Japanese gardens. Monaco-Ville is still a medieval village at heart and an astonishingly picturesque site. It is made up almost entirely of pedestrian streets and passageways and most of the previous-century houses still remain. There, you can visit the Prince's Monaco Palace, the Monaco Cathedral which was built in 1875, the world-renowned Oceanographic Museum and Aquarium, the City Hall, and the Saint Martin gardens. Cannes is one of the most well-known cities along the French Riviera with its world-famous film festival. The old town of Cannes is known as Le Suquet and sits high above the leafy squares and the old port. The traditional narrow streets wind steeply uphill to the ancient fortification, church and square. The views are of course spectacular with the whole town displayed at your feet and framed by the Baie de Cannes and the Massif Esterel mountains. Cannes' exhilarating nightlife, casinos and many high end restaurants give the town a feel of high-end exclusivity.
