Flatey is the largest island of the western islands, a cluster of about forty large and small islands and islets located on the northwestern part of Iceland. Flatey and its surrounding islands are, as a creation, believed to have forged from under the weight of a great glacier during the previous Ice age. Most of the island's land is flat hence its name meaning 'flat island' in Icelandic, with scarcely any hills to be found.
The Latrabjarg cliffs, the westernmost point of Iceland, are home to birds in unfathomable numbers.

Siglufjordur is a particularly beautiful fjord, and high, dramatic mountains tower over the town. The birdlife is varied and some 2,000 birds of 16-18 species are usually found in the fjord. Akureyri is a very picturesque town, located by a scenic fjord, and eclectic building styles and streets wind their way through gorges. Spend some time walking around the town centre, see the impressive church and check out Listagilio (literally 'the art canyon'), home to a number of art and craft galleries and shops.
The tranquil municipal botanical garden is also worth visiting, as are the several small museums dotted around town.
Enjoy fresh, organic local produce in one of the town's restaurants.

Nestled on the edge of Shaky Bay, the town of Husavik is globally recognized as one of the best locations in the world from which to watch whales. In fact, there is a higher chance of seeing whales in Husavik than any other place in Iceland.
More than 40km north of mainland Iceland lies Grimsey Island. Though treeless, the island's vegetation cover is rich, consisting of marshland, grass and moss, and the island is home to many birds, especially auks.

Located on a peninsula in the southeast of Iceland, Hofn offers scenic views of Vatnajokull,the largest ice cap in Europe by volume. The name Hofn means harbour and it is a fishing port surrounded on three sides by the sea, with beaches on a long shoreline to the southeast. Shoals and glacial rivers traverse this area with many shifting lagoons and sand reefs being formed. The Vatnajokull National Park covers 13% of Iceland and is the largest national park in Western Europe. The Park is unique in its range of contrasting natural wonders and is characterized by the perpetual struggle of fire and ice. In this area, you will see the white glacier descending to black sands, hot streams erupting from frozen banks of ice, and Iceland's highest mountain presiding over its deepest proglacial lake.
Here there's a possibility for guests to stay ashore overnight while the yacht cruises down the South coast.

WESTMAN ISLANDS
DAY 11

The Westman archipelago is located off the Southwestern coast of Iceland.
Formed following a series of underwater eruptions, it is composed of 15 islands and about 30 islets. Of all the Westman Islands, Heimaey is the only one to be inhabited. The village is charming, and its little coloured houses are reminiscent of another time.
Any tour of the Westman islands is incomplete without a hike to the top of the Eldfell volcano (205m). Climb back down to the port and discover the 'new land' of Heimaey - Eldfell's eruption in 1973 unleashed a monumental lava stream that increased the territory of the island by about 20%.
