Greenland - Nuuk, Greenland - Luxury Charter Itinerary | C&N
Nuuk, Greenland
Day 2

Nuuk is the capital and largest city of Greenland with a population of 16,454, making it one of the smallest capital cities in the world. Nuuk is the Kalaallisut word for 'cape'. It is so named because of its position at the end of the Nuup Kangerlua fjord on the eastern shore of the Labrador Sea. Its latitude, at at 64°N, makes it the world's northernmost capital, located only a few kilometres further north than the Icelandic capital Reykjavik. Nuuk is full of experiences not found anywhere else in Greenland. Marvel at mummies in the Greenland National Museum. Sample local craft beers at Greenland's largest microbrewery. Learn about urban arctic living and the move toward Greenlandic independence with a city and parliament tour. Evaluate new and old expressions of Inuit culture at the Nuuk Art Museum.

Heli Skiing - Maniitsoq to Kangaamiut
Day 3

Kangaamiut is located on an island off the coast of Davis Strait between the mouths of two long fjords. To the south is the long and twisted Kangerlussuatsiaq Fjord and to the north is the Kangaamiut. The mouth of the long Kangerlussuaq Fjord is located approximately 26 kilometers (16 mi) north of the island. Skiing around Kangaamiut offers everything from steep couloirs to long, flat glaciers. There are hundreds of glacial runs dropping into three different fjords directly behind the Island of Kangaamiut. Running three groups of five skiers (comprised four clients and a guide), heli time is spread amongst the groups. Spring corn snow is found on the southern exposures and powder to the north. The maritime nature of the snow pack, and the timing in spring, means that avalanche hazard is not critical and you can enjoy some steep skiing. Descents are up to 2,000m vertical metres and many terminate at the sea's edge.

Isortok
Day 4 - 5

Nordre Isortoq and the neighbouring fjords are still ice bound even in May. If accessible, we will try to enter one of the fjords, taking in the population of walruses and seals, watching the banks for one of the largest population of Caribou on Greenland. Whilst cruising it is almost impossible not to see whales, including protected Humpbacks, and seals.
This area gives opportunities for ice diving, but is still close enough to Kangaamiut if you prefer to continue skiing.
Spotlight on Ice Diving: This area offers the opportunity for ice diving; the best way to see the most beautiful wildlife in its natural habitat. See ice-mountains from underneath and discover the unexplored world under the sea level.
Highlights include Borgin - the wreck of a wooden schooner which caught fire and went down in 1954. She lies upright at a depth of 25m with two of her masts almost reaching the surface. The wreck is well protected from the sometimes very harsh, icy environment. Which can also be seen on the well-preserved wreck of a Portuguese prison ship, which lies at a depth of 26m.
The rig is in good condition and, in particular, two large hatches,(with its wooden helm and steps)are well worth a closer look. Whilst diving you will almost certainly see catfish and other such species.

Greenland - Ukkusissat - Luxury Charter Itinerary | C&N
Ukkusissat
Day 6

Ukkusissat is a settlement in the Qaasuitsup municipality, in northwest Greenland.
The population of the settlement was 170 in 2010 and the settlement abuts the northwestern tip of the peninsula of the same name, jutting from the mainland to the west and northwest and into the inner waterways of the Uummannaq Fjord system.
To the north of the settlement, Perlerfiup Kangerlua, a large inner fjord empties into the main branch of Uummannaq Fjord.
To the south and southwest across Torsukattak Strait are the high mountains of the Salleq Island and the much larger Appat Island, alongside the flat Qeqertat skerries. Fishing is the main occupation in Ukkusissat, with the fish processing plant located at the harbour.
Reinvigoration of mining activities in the nearby Maamorilik site - located northeast of the settlement on the northern side of Perlerfiup Kangerlua provides an economic boost to the local economy. The community in Ukkusissat is served by Pilersuisoq, an all-purpose communal store.
The harbour in Ukkusissat cannot handle large ships due to shallow coastal waters.
