Gulf Superyacht Summit 2022, Dubai
The Gulf Superyacht Summit is a two-day event held on the 9 and 10 November in Dubai onboard M/Y QUEEN ELIZABETH 2.
It precedes the first ever SailGP Championship to take place in Mina Rashid and includes amongst its key sponsors P&O Marinas, Event Partner Lürssen and Platinum Sponsors Al Seer Marine, Abu Dhabi Ports and Camper & Nicholsons International.
Wednesday 9th of November - the Gulf Day - will focus on the Gulf region and cover regulatory, business and client/cruising perspectives. On the agenda, a presentation of SuperYacht Times report on the Gulf superyacht market and fleet movements, as well as discussions surrounding the opportunities and challenges of investing or starting a yacht business in the UAE.
International industry speakers will examine the latest developments in the region and the availability of supporting local resources and infrastructure such as marina to dock the yachts, agents to support them, suppliers to supply them and shipyards to maintain them. The exchange will answer essential questions such as financing and insurance services, how can regional cooperation impact development, and what are the Gulf’s plans to become the next superyacht destination.
With a growing fleet and more demand for yachts, it is now a good time to invest in the yacht industry of the United Arab Emirates. What are the opportunities and challenges of investing or starting a yacht business in the United Arab Emirates. Giovanni Alessi, CTO of Camper & Nicholsons, will participate in the panel “Investing in the UAE” on the 9th of November. Thomas O’Nial, Sales Manager of Camper & Nicholsons is involved in the conversation “Attracting new clients in the Gulf” on the same day.
Thursday 10th of November - the Future Day - will focus on the future, new opportunities and new technologies. A SailGP speaker will share learnings from highly innovative and fast sailing yachts and what the superyacht industry can learn from it.
Experts will unveil trends shaping the digital landscape in Dubai, one of the main crypto, blockchain and Metaverse hubs in the world. How can the yachting industry benefit from this digital revolution and what role can Dubai play in this development? Giovanni Alessi was also invited to attent the discussion “How tech can benefit the Superyacht Industry” and present new tech solutions that benefit industry professionals and superyacht owners.
The event will also be a good opportunity to explore new energy sources and the future of hydrogen powered superyachts, as well as how is designing and building a Superyacht different from Cruise Ships.
