The history of PT Daya Radar Utama (DRU) began in 1972 in Tanjung Priok Port, Jakarta. DRU started the business as a general trading and services company, including shipyard venture.
Initially, the company is focused on the general trading activities on the components of the ship. The shipyard business was just starting to be focused on in 1989 with a pilot project in the form of construction of new vessel called pilot boat to support offshore operations of oil and natural gas.
Along the way, DRU contributed to the nation. The ships produced by the company have operated to connect the archipelago. The presence of DRU complements Indonesia as the biggest archipelago state in the world and maritime nation to become the axis of World Maritime. With a long history, DRU bear witness to the ups and downs of national shipping industry.
In 2008, DRU expanding its businesses into a number of regions in Indonesia in order to establish its vision as the nation’s foremost of the shipyards business . Lampung province became the first region to be invested considering the area’s great potential that today we have Lampung Division of Shipyard. Lamongan Division of Shipyard is also operated as a part of grand strategy in supporting national maritime program.
Up until now at the age of almost 50 years old, DRU has accomplished the construction of hundreds of ships with various types and sizes such as Roll On Roll Off (RORO) type of ship, cargo vessel, tanker, patrol vessel, navy, fast patrol boat, tug boat, off shore, and speed boat.
DRU also has reliable human resources with efficient work and high productivity to support repairing services and ship conversion and the ability to work in accordance to customer requirements.
The vessels built and repaired are made of steel, fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP), and aluminum. The Company continues to innovate in developing ships prototype, adding facilities such as area expansion, jetty extension, slipway, graving dock assembly, and strengthen the research and development activities.
