Camper & Nicholsons appoints Gordon Hui as Senior Sales Broker

Camper & Nicholsons is delighted to announce the appointment of Gordon Yip Wang Hui, Owner of Victoria Marine Asia, as Senior Sales Broker in our Hong Kong office. Gordon joins Camper & Nicholsons from a well-known UK brand franchise where he was Chairman from 2003 to 2020. We are delighted to welcome Gordon, a highly respected figure in the yachting industry, to our team.

After spending his early career in the property industry in the United Kingdom, Gordon, a lifelong yacht owner, established a yacht brand franchise upon his return to Hong Kong in 2003. He was responsible for the brand across India, the Maldives, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Korea, Japan, Hong Kong and China. During his time with the yacht builder, over 235 yachts were sold across the entire region, 131 of these in Hong Kong, including 15 units over 100ft.

He played an important role in opening up the Chinese market to new build yachts, delivering the first yacht to a client in Hangzhou in 2004. As the Chinese yachting market grew, four dealers were appointed in Sanya, Shenzen, Xiamen and Qingdao and, between 2004 and 2016, 22 sales were made.

Between 1992 and 2017, Gordon personally owned seven Sunseeker yachts, the first three as a UK sales client with Sunseeker London, before distribution started in Asia in 2003.

In his new role at Camper & Nicholsons, Gordon is looking forward to introducing clients to the sustainable innovations coming out of premium shipyards in Europe. "I hope to look after my existing clients and to help them upgrade to all the latest exciting brands and their new models, perhaps even recommending my favorites from Ferretti Riva Group, SanLorenzo and Princess etc," he comments. "For clients looking for 37m-plus metal or alloy yachts, we hope to introduce buyers to the latest hybrid systems available from Baglietto, Heesen, and CRN, etc since these are exciting, environmentally friendly superyachts that new owners can enjoy while looking after our oceans.”

He also plans to continue building his relationships in mainland China. “The Chinese market is full of potential, especially with the current and proposed yacht-friendly regulations in Hainan. For the past four years, 90  percent of my clients in Hong Kong had been Chinese, so it’s an exciting time," he comments. "It' s also important to monitor the production of Chinese brands for the local market and I am in close contact with several shipyards. At the entry-level in Asia, certain brands such as Galeon, BALI Catamarans, and Lagoon are fantastic for emerging markets such as The Maldives, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Indonesia," he adds.

Gordon is also keen to discover many more Asian cruising destinations including China’s Sanya, Shenzhen, Xiamen, as well as Qingdao, a particular favourite for summer sailing.
