42.5m Explorer Ice Class upgraded to the latest IMO gas emission regulations

Camper & Nicholsons, Karatas Yacht Design and Arkin Pruva are happy to announce that the new build project of the 42.5m Explorer Ice Class, due for delivery in 2022, has been upgraded to the latest IMO gas emission regulations.

All parties worked together to ensure the new build’s machinery meets the latest IMO requirements when it comes to NOx SOx Tier III gas emission. The stunning Explorer yacht will, therefore, be equipped with the latest 2021 MAN engines fitted with SCR exhausts at no extra cost to the buyer. The additional cost was kindly absorbed by the shipyard, Arkin Pruva, to keep the total budget under €10 million.

As a result, the entire engine room had to be redesigned by Karatas Yacht Design in order to accommodate the new engines along with additional equipment, to stay within the environmental regulations stipulated in the latest IMO requirements.

As previously mentioned, it is crucial to underline the collaborative effort of all parties involved in order to accommodate this new vision of sustainability within the yachting industry.

This yacht is an exceptional opportunity for her new owner to enjoy her high specification, the latest environmentally aware engines and her explorer capabilities: having access to the most secluded and protected areas of the world’s oceans while keeping a clean conscience. All of which at an unbeatable deal on the market, tying in with the shipyard’s mission of a more sustainable future for the yachting industry.
