About Janina Martinsen
Whilst training in Medical Laboratory Sciences at the Royal London Hospital, United Kingdom, Nina was introduced to sailing dinghies and Thames barge sailing, and the reality that maybe "there is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats" set in.
Offshore sailing followed, to Brittany and Northern Spain, but warmer climes beckoned, so after 10 years in the clinical laboratories, she took extended leave to visit a friend in the Caribbean. It was there, in the beautiful British Virgin Islands, that Nina realised her real potential was not in petri dishes and test tubes, but in everything that had to do with sailing, the sun, the sea and the people who loved it too.
Nina enjoyed over 20 years as a liveaboard sailor with her late husband, all the while working in many aspects of the yachting industry, from crewing to Captain in the bareboat charter fleets, purchasing and provisioning for a charter fleet, manager of a ship's chandlery, booking agent at a popular charter yacht clearing house, running a private yacht, and has experienced many adventures afloat in the Caribbean, The Bahamas and Europe, including the Mediterranean and two Atlantic crossings on a 44' sailboat.
Settling back on land in 2000, Nina joined BSA in Fort Lauderdale as a charter manager. In 2002, BSA was bought out by Camper & Nicholsons, enabling Nina to join our charter management team. With a wealth of knowledge in yachting garnered over 30 years and a passion for her chosen field of expertise, Nina proves her worth. Nina is active in the American Yacht Charter Association, and a member of the Charter Professionals Committee in the International Yacht Brokers Association.
