About DE VROUWE CHRISTINA

De Vrouwe Christina was commissioned by Crawford Failey, a well-known professor of medicine in New England, who modeled her after the traditional Dutch Tjalk vessels. Tjalks were often used as cargo barges - a popular shallow draft design with lots of stability and volume. When gaff-rigged, they were known as spritsail barges and that was the inspiration behind her design.

Launched in September 1957 and arriving to New York in January 1958, De Vrouwe Christina spent several years exploring the intercoastal waterway and the Bahamas. In the 1980s, she was sold to James Ryder of Ryder's Trucking. He was so impressed with De Vrouwe Christina that he went on to build two Feadships of his own. Another owner sailed her across the Atlantic Ocean six times under the watch of an English captain.

First launched in 1957, De Vrouwe Christina holds an important position in the boat building history of the iconic Feadship shipyard. She is the only vessel of her kind to have been built by the award-winning yard. Thanks to extensive refits in 2002 and 2017, as well as a dedicated maintenance record, she is now offered for sale in impeccable condition.

De Vrouwe Christina has a gaff-rigged motor sailer configuration and is exceptionally seaworthy. She can also boast a shallow draft, permitting her access to the more secluded bays and anchorages. An excellent cruising vessel, with up-to-date technical and navigational equipment, her current owners have proven her capabilities in visiting the waters of Alaska, New England and South America in recent years.

She offers three well-appointed and luxurious cabins, including a full-beam master suite aft and two twin cabins for guests forward. Her interior is modern and features varnished Birdseye maple with custom detailing. With many noteworthy artistic features and her unique style, she attracts admiring smiles from onlookers in any harbour.

Combined with her professional-grade galley, she would make an exceptional, intimate houseboat, with all the modern accoutrements a discerning guest would need to feel at home in the sea.

Wide, open decks and a protected wheelhouse offer great versatility, accented by timeless, stainless steel hardware.

This stunning 28m yacht is truly one-of-a-kind and presents an exciting opportunity to acquire not only a yacht of superb pedigree and ability, but also an official member of the Feadship Heritage Fleet.
